The gasoline crisis in the metropolitan area of Tijuana, Tecate and Playas de Rosarito has left several positive legacies. One of them is the reduction of vehicles on public roads and, as a consequence, less emission of polluting gases into the air that we all breathe.
60% of the pollutants that impact air quality in Baja California correspond to the vehicle fleet, according to the director of the Mexico AC Environmental Innovation and Management Center (CIGA), José Carmelo Zavala Álvarez.
Furthermore, public transport is responsible for an average of 80% of air pollution, although it represents less than 20% of the vehicle fleet.
